Dighalia upazila of Khulna district was established on 08 November 1983 with 07 unions. Dighalia upazila is situated between 22 ° 50 '- 22 ° 51' north and longitude 69 ° 33 '- 69 ° 40' north latitude. Kalia and Abhaynagar upazilas to the north, Bhairab river and Khulna metro area to the south, Dumuria upazila to the west, Terkhada and Rupsha upazilas to the east. Naming history: There are different opinions about the naming of this upazila. The territory of Dighalia Senhati, Barakpur Union of Dighalia Upazila is mainly formed from the silt of Bhairab river. People from the surrounding area came and settled in this area. The people of this area were called "Nemi". This charannal was long or long. That is why today's Dighalia has been named. As a result, this upazila was named Dighalia.
